Breaking Into Your Newly Bought High Heels
You have just gone from a shopping jaunt at your favourite retailer and are eager to use the sexy footwear you have just purchased. You are already imagining how you look when you match them with a couple of your fashionable clothes and apparel on various occasions. Of course, you would like to look your best wherever you go and turn heads. However, limping your way through a party or event is not the way to go.
Do not wait until you actually get to spend hours standing and walking in your newly acquired shoes before you do something to make them more comfortable for your feet. Your favourite celebrities and models may make it appear as if wearing sky-high stilettos is a breeze but little do you know what they do behind the scenes to make this endeavour seem effortless.
They key to using high heels with poise is to break them in beforehand. You can do this by walking around your home in your new footwear for at least 2 hours. Don a thick pair of tights or ordinary socks as you do this so that the material stretches out a bit. You can also moisten the inside part of your shoe with rubbing alcohol, soap bar, or water applied on a piece of cloth and stride about your house in them so that it will adapt itself to the form of your feet.
To prevent slippage, rub sandpaper on the outer part of the sole for added traction or insert a gel cushion inside the pair. In case your skin is sensitive and blisters easily, buy patches and foot aides that can protect the more vulnerable parts.
Make sure that you have bought stilettos of the right size in the first place. No amount of breaking in will remedy footwear that are of the wrong proportions. If you are not used to wearing shoes of stratospheric heights, start with a pair of lower heels and gradually increase this in the next few weeks or months.
